How to build an IFR route along an airway and plot the approach chart

A real IFR route, from Santos Dumont (SBRJ) to Congonhas (SBSP), built in under a minute. After building the route, the video plots the ILS 35L approach chart and follows the aircraft flying the final approach on top of it.

Step by step

  1. Point by point: search for the departure aerodrome, the airway fixes (NAXOP and IBDAL) and the destination.
  2. Whole route: paste SBRJ NAXOP UZ45 IBDAL SBSP into the search and the app builds the route along the airway.
  3. Open the destination approach chart (ILS 35L) and plot it on the map.
  4. Follow the aircraft flying the final approach over the chart.

Frequently asked questions

Does the app understand the airway name in a pasted route?

Yes. In a pasted route, Alfaero reads the fixes and the airway between them, as in item 15 of the flight plan, and builds the legs.

Can I see the chart over the map?

Yes. The approach chart is plotted over the map, and the aircraft position appears on top of it.
